The Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains

The Three Sisters are three sandstone towers you see from Echo Point, near Katoomba. Every tour on this page stops there or nearby.

You need no ticket to see them. The lookouts are free.

The Three Sisters walk

The walk is free. A 450 m path leads to Oreades lookout. Then 50 m of steps go down to Lady Game lookout. The Giant Stairway to Honeymoon Bridge is very steep, so skip it if your knees are weak.

Scenic World in the Blue Mountains

Scenic World is a park with four rides into the valley: the Railway, the Skyway, the Cableway and the Walkway. A day pass starts at A$64 for adults and A$38.40 for kids. Children under 3 go free.

Its site says sessions sell out in advance. Five of our picks include it, so you skip that worry. The all-inclusive tour goes in early. The sunset tour skips Scenic World and the crowds.

Can you do the Blue Mountains without a tour?

Yes. Express trains to Katoomba take about 90 minutes, and all-stations trains up to two hours. Going to the Blue Mountains by train works well for the free Three Sisters walk.

A tour helps if you can’t walk far or have no time to plan. It also gets you into Scenic World and a wildlife park in one day.

Tips before you book a Blue Mountains tour

  1. If the weather turns

Three of our picks run in all weather and give no refund inside 24 hours. Check the forecast before that cut-off.

  2. Choose your wildlife park

The all-inclusive tour lets you pick Featherdale or Sydney Zoo. Tell them at least 24 hours before.

  3. Leave the stroller at home

Most picks do not allow strollers or large bags. The lookout tour takes folding wheelchairs and walkers.

  4. Dress for the mountains

It can be cooler than Sydney. Bring a warm layer, a hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes.

  5. Bring lunch money

Lunch is extra on most picks. The all-inclusive option includes a one-course lunch.
