What a Sydney helicopter ride includes

Every helicopter flight here leaves from Sydney Airport and includes commentary from the pilot and drinks after the flight. You see the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and the city skyline.

Transfers are free from some city hotels, but only when available and confirmed. If you drive, parking at the heliport in Mascot is free.

Bring a camera. Selfie sticks are not allowed.

Sydney helicopter tours: shared or private

A shared flight is worth it for most people: it is the cheapest way to see the harbour from the air. Up to six passengers may share the helicopter.

A private flight is worth the extra money for a special day, like a proposal or a birthday. Only you and one other person fly.

The 30-minute shared flight and both private flights also go over some of Sydney's beaches.

Helicopter ride Sydney prices

A helicopter ride over Sydney costs from €169 for 20 minutes on a shared flight. Here are all six:

On a smaller budget, cruise Sydney Harbour by boat past the same landmarks from €24.

  • 30 minutes, shared: from €235 per person.
  • 20 minutes, private for 2: listed from €238.

  • Biplane, 50 minutes: from €500 per person.
  • Stunt plane, 40 minutes: from €688 for one passenger.

Planes instead of helicopters

For something different, two flights leave from Bankstown Airport in small planes. Both are new on GetYourGuide and have no rating yet.

The biplane flies for 50 minutes in an open cockpit over the harbour and the Northern Beaches. You get a pilot suit, a headset and a free HD video.

The stunt plane flies for 40 minutes past the Opera House, the Bridge, Bondi and Manly. You choose scenic flying only, or add mild to extreme aerobatics.

Booking tips for Sydney helicopter rides

  1. Expect to be weighed

All helicopter passengers are weighed at check-in, and weight limits apply. Read them on the booking page before you book.

  2. Ask about hotel transfers

Free transfers run only from some city hotels and only if confirmed. If you have no transfer, the heliport is in Mascot, with free parking.

  3. If your flight is cancelled

All six flights have free cancellation on GetYourGuide. The listings do not explain what happens if the weather stops a flight, so ask the operator when you book.

  4. Before a plane flight

For the biplane and the stunt plane, avoid fizzy drinks and greasy food for 1 to 2 hours before. Riders under 18 need a parent's consent.
